Rebecca Stavenjord (she/her)
for Milwaukie City Council 2022, Position 4
I was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, I know the value of relationships, creative problem solving, and real talk. For nearly 25 years I have worked in the public sector - managing budgets and staff, developing policy and programs, and advising regional decision makers. I believe in applying an equity lens to matters of regional growth and investment while also prioritizing all our residents, new and old.
We have an exciting future ahead of us in Milwaukie and have momentum for rapid change. I have the skills and experience to help guide us in that change.
Experience to lead smart growth in Milwaukie.
Community focused solutions.
As a neighborhood leader, I believe all voices deserve a place in the discussion of Milwaukie’s future. We may not all agree all the time, but we can agree that we love our city and its residents. With transportation planning, new housing being built, and urban renewal on the near horizon for City Council, I will work to involve all our neighborhoods and seek out under-represented voices in critical conversations.
Involving new voices means reflecting on how we do things. I lead with a lens for equity and social justice. I’m not afraid of changing the status quo if it means more of our communities can be involved in shaping our future.
Integrity and values to guide decision making.
I have been a leader for more than three decades in my neighborhood, school communities, service organizations, as a youth ice hockey coach and Girl Scout leader, and working professionally for both Clackamas and Multnomah Counties.
I believe that we must personally model the values we want to see reflected in the world. To me, that means responsibility, teamwork, diversity, innovation, and compassion.
I’m a hard worker and I’m ready to work hard for Milwaukie.
